Voice input for Cursor on Windows

Cursor's chat, composer and inline edit box are all plain text inputs, which is the easy case for Holdkey: hold the key, talk, let go, the text is in the box. What makes it worth using every day is what happens to identifiers and to long instructions.

Identifiers

In Cursor and VS Code, Holdkey keeps file names, symbols and flags as spoken and does not "correct" them into English words. Add your project's names to the vocabulary once and the recognizer hears them right.

Long instructions

Describing a refactor across three files takes a minute. Holdkey cleans each pause-separated piece while you talk, so the whole thing lands at once when you release.

Ums and restarts

Clean mode drops fillers and the sentence you took back. It never changes a number, a negation or who you are talking about; if it would, you get your exact words instead.

Context switching

One key works in Cursor, the terminal below it, and the browser tab with the docs. No per-app setup.

How it goes with Cursor

  1. Click into Cursor's chat or composer.
  2. Hold Right Ctrl and talk.
  3. Let go. Review, then send.
  4. For a raw transcript instead of the cleaned one, tap Right Ctrl right after.

Measured, not claimed. Same clip, same mic, same machine: Holdkey Raw 106 ms, Holdkey Clean about 600 ms on a 5-second request; about 100 ms for both on a 19-second one. Method and numbers.

Cursor's own voice features, where they exist, are cloud-based and live in Cursor. Holdkey is local and works in every input on your PC.
