Dictation software for Windows: the honest shortlist
Most “dictation software” pages are written for doctors and lawyers. This one is for people who write to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Slack and Gmail all day and want to stop typing. Seven options, checked September 2026, including the one we make.

How to choose
If you want zero setup and do not mind the cloud: Win+H is already on your machine. Try it for a day. Its two problems are that it stops listening when you pause to think, and it types your ums.
If you use a Mac and a phone too: Wispr Flow or Typeless. Pay for the sync and the languages; accept that your voice goes to a server.
